Location: The perfect location for a golf-theme wedding and reception is a golf course or country club. The existing décor already sets the stage for your celebration. Remember to have a solid back up plan if you are planning to hold the ceremony and/or reception outside on an actual golf course.

Announcements/Invitations: Announce your engagement on cards that look like flags on a golf green! If you are planning a formal wedding, use an elegant invitations that have been printed on card stock that has a pattern similar to the indentations of a golf ball. Use a sheet of vellum paper to soften the look. To continue the theme, glue tiny “golf balls” (pearls) to the top of the invitation. The couple heading out for a day on the links will surely let your guests know how much fun is in store for them on your wedding day!

Colors: The color scheme should be white and green with subtle splashes of yellow and red. Think late spring or summer day at the golf course!

Ladies’ Attire: Your dress should be a simple summery dress. Consider a halter style or sleeveless dress with a detachable train. The tea ceremony is the most significant event in a modern Chinese Wedding as the traditional three prayers ceremony is usually not practiced.

The bride is formally introduced to the groom's family through the Chinese wedding tea ceremony. It will usually take place on the wedding day when most of the family members are present.

If some members are not available, supplementary sessions can be conducted at the wedding dinner or at other convenient times and locations.

When will you serve tea?

The tea ceremony for the groom's side is usually in the morning once the couple has settled down a bit in the bridal home.

Traditionally teochew bride is fetched to the groom's home before daylight. If it is really too early and the groom's relatives have not arrived for the tea ceremony, the couple can have a short rest or an outdoor photo-session while waiting.

Tea ceremony for the relatives on the bride's side is usually held in the afternoon when the couple complete the "bride's home visit."

In some family, the bride (and some will choose to do so together with the groom) may serve her parents tea in the morning before she is married. When she returns for the bride's home visit, she is already a married woman.

Order of service, grandparents or parents first?

The order of service is usually:

There is one obvious answer. If the altar only fits a handful of people, you'll have to limit your number of bridesmaids! But, seriously, the first rule in determining how many bridesmaids is right for you is to coordinate the size of your wedding party with the size of the venue where your wedding is to take place. Although it may be difficult to choose five bridesmaids from among fifty of your best friends, you must if you're having an intimate wedding. And there are plenty of other great honors that you can hand out to close friends who want to participate in the wedding (e.g., they can help coordinate any other wedding-related activities, or they could write a special song or toast for the reception, etc.).

A good second rule is to consider the formality of the wedding. In general, formal weddings have a half dozen or more bridesmaids in addition to the maid of honor (it could be as many as a dozen, but that is very rare). Semiformal and casual weddings can have just one bridesmaid - the maid of honor - but typically have about three to five. And don't worry if the groom has more ushers than you have bridesmaids: Ushers can always double up in the recessional. Of course, the final decision rests with you, the bride, but remember that the larger the number, the more difficult it may be for you to manage. And remember that the bridesmaids will all have to work together on many aspects of planning, so addressing any conflicts up front will avoid problems down the line. So the more the merrier? or too many cooks spoil the broth? you'll have to decide!

How to Make centerpieces to decorate for a fall wedding reception

Step1

PUMPKIN & APPLES VASES: To make pumpkin & apple vases, simply find enough large vases for all of your tables. They can be big, tall vases or big round, short vases, with large openings at the top. Or they can be any other type of large vases that you would like. Simply fill these large vases with small, baby pumpkins and red and green apples for very simple and festive centerpieces.

CANDY CORN CANDLES: Get three small or medium sized, fall colored plates per table. Get three fall colored pillar candles that are different heights per table. Get 1 or 2 bags of candy corn per table. Place the three plates in a circle in the middle of the table. Then place a different height pillar candle in the center of each plate. Now add the candy corn around the candle to fill the rest of the plate. These are not only gorgeous, but they give your guests something to snack on! You could also use the candy corn as confetti on the tables.

Step3

PUMPKIN VASES: Buy enough pumpkins to set on one the middle of each table. Cut a 4 inch hole in the top to remove the stem. Gut the pumpkin. Fill the pumpkin with flowers that match your wedding colors for a beautiful centerpiece for each table.

Step4

GOLD OR SILVER LINING PUMPKINS: Paint small pumpkins gold or silver, whichever matches your wedding colors the best. Paint the entire thing including the stem. Then tie a fall ribbon around the stem when the pumpkin is dry. Place the pumpkins on a small platter surrounding it with candles or candy corn for an elegant center piece.

With the economy in flux, spending a fortune on a wedding becomes even more impractical than ever. The Knot's editors demonstrate how a lovely ceremony with family and friends can come in at less than $10,000. By Anja Winikka

Sure, the average US wedding will run about $27,000, but that didn't stop us from devising a wedding plan for a $10K wedding budget. From homemade cookie wedding favors to reception vases from IKEA, here's how to get a stylish 100-guest wedding for under $10K.
Stationery: $400Ways to save: You could go the DIY route, but do a quick online stationery search and you'll find countless designers and other small online stationery companies that are completely affordable, well-designed, and well worth the time you'll save on not having to worry about printing your own.What we found: An offset-printed invite and reply card suite on Minted.com that costs $338 (for 75 sets, assuming there are some couples). The price even includes free return address printing on the back of each envelope. Figure in a little more for shipping and postage and you're still under $400.

Ceremony: $65Ways to save: If you have a place of worship, then you're all set. If not, plan a short and sweet ceremony in a nearby park. Have your guests stand in a semicircle while you exchange vows and let the surroundings act as your decor. (Just make sure that in the case of rain, you'd be able to use your reception space.) Go to the county clerk's office for your marriage license and have a friend officiate your ceremony.What we found: A park permit for Central Park in New York City costs just $25. Get your marriage license from the county clerk's office for around $40, and have a loved one ordained online for free at TheMonastery.org.

Ceremony Flowers: $150Ways to save: Find an a la carte florist to make a bridal bouquet, and then go online and order fans or parasols for your bridesmaids to carry in lieu of flowers. Skip the boutonnieres for the guys or coordinate their boutonnieres with the surroundings -- like small knotted nautical ropes pinned to their lapels for a seaside wedding or custom-made buttons that reflect their personalities (think photos of favorite albums, movies, and hobbies).What we found: Two colorful parasols on PearlRiver.com for $29, custom-designed buttons at PureButtons.com for $22, and a florist in Boulder, Colorado, who would make us a gorgeous in-season floral bridal bouquet for $70. Add tax and shipping for a total that comes in under $150.

Photography: $500Ways to save: Find a photographer who offers a la carte services so that you don't have to pay for extras like editing, re-touching, and photo albums.What we found: A Manhattan wedding photographer who's running a "recession special" wedding photography package which includes four hours of shooting for $500.

Attire: $400Ways to save: Check out nontraditional bridal lines like the ones at J.Crew and Target, shop sample sales, and browse off-the-rack dresses at department stores. Another option: Find a bridesmaid dress that you like and get it in white. The groom could wear his favorite suit and then buy a new shirt for the occasion.What we found: A dress at JCrew.com for $295, white Lela Rose shoes at Payless.com for $25, and a crisp white shirt for him that costs $45 at a department store. With tax and shipping, everything comes to around $400.

Hair & Makeup: $160Ways to save: Find a salon that does both hair and makeup. Instead of having your hair completely styled by a pro, just get it blow-dried for half the cost. You'll get the same fresh-from-the-salon style without the price tag. Then have your makeup done professionally.What we found: A salon in Santa Monica, California, that does blow-dries for $40 and makeup for $80. Figure in the tip and tax and you're at about $160. Not too shabby.

Videography: $300Ways to save: Don't skip the video entirely -- find a videographer to give you a deal on a daytime ceremony-only package. Or enlist a friend to set up a camera on a tripod in the back of the ceremony venue.What we found: A videographer in Atlanta who would shoot a daytime wedding ceremony and provide just the raw footage (without edits) for $300.

Reception: $6,500Ways to save: Skip the popular Saturday night and book a lunch, brunch, or light cocktail reception. Caterers and reception sites alike will be much more willing to work within your budget. Also be sure to look for all-inclusive pricing that figures in the cost of the bar, taxes, and service charges so that you don't get stuck with unforeseen fees.What we found: A trendy New York City restaurant that would cater a three-course wedding lunch with beer, wine, and soft drinks for $65 per person including taxes and service charges on a Saturday afternoon.

Reception Decor Materials: $325Ways to save: Buy your flowers in bulk online and ask a trusted friend to put your arrangements together for you. Cluster glass vases (bought at discount stores) or colorful jars and vases (that you've collected) on your tables instead.What we found: A mix of in-season flowers, including lilies, tulips, irises, and freesia, online at FiftyFlowers.com for $140. Small glass vases from IKEA are about $4 each. Place them in threes on each table for a total of $120 (assuming 10 tables of 10). Figure in a little more for taxes and shipping and you're under $325.

Reception Music: $500Ways to save: Find two-for-one package deals. For example, some DJs offer packages that include both the ceremony and reception. If you want live music, split the difference. Hire musicians to play for the ceremony and cocktail hour and then set up an iPod with dance music for the reception.What we found: A guitarist and singer duo on Craigslist.com who would play for $500 for four hours. (Just be sure to listen to their sound samples before you sign any checks.)

Wedding Cake: $225Ways to save: Scale down the size of your cake. Order a simple layer cake from a local bakery for your cake cutting. Then serve up assorted cupcakes, mini tarts, cookies, or even petits fours in your color of choice and have them passed or set up on a buffet-style dessert table after dinner.What we found: A New York City bakery with cupcakes at $18 per dozen and a 7" chocolate double layer cake for $25 for a total of $205 assuming you get 10 dozen. Have the cakes picked up on the day-of to skip delivery charges and you come in at less than $225 for cake!

Transportation: $4 Ways to save: Sweet-talk your friend with a nice car and ask them if you can borrow it for the day. Live in a big city? Hire a pedicab or jump on the subway for cute photo-ops and inexpensive transit.What we found: Subway passes for two in New York City for $2 each.

Favors: $20Ways to save: Go the homemade route here. Enlist your aunt or grandmother who's offered to help with the planning to bake her famous snickerdoodle cookies. Have the treats displayed on a small table next to the cake or near the exit and lay out small paper bags.What we found: 100 small clear favor bags on TheKnot.com wedding shop for $15.

Foundation

There are many types of foundation available liquid, cream, dual finished compact formulas and tinted moisturizer. Foundation should always match your skin tone exactly. Yellow-based foundations work best on most skin types, because they neutralize any pink or red undertones and result in a clearer complexion. Avoid pink-based foundations, which often end up looking too, well, pink on the skin.

- First if your skin is oily, clean it and use an oil free moisturizer. But if it’s too oily avoid the moisturizer and just dab a little eye lotion under your eye. If your skin is dry, moisturize it.

- After applying the moisturizer use a foundation, which is an anti-shine product.

- If you have any blemishes or spots on your skin use a spot concealer, which will stay longer. Use it under the eyes, around corners of your nose, and wherever you have blemishes.

- If your skin is oily apply an oil-free foundation.

- After you’ve applied your liquid foundation, use power with a small brush.

Eye Makeup

Eyes make up is very important to complete the look .For some women the eyes make up lasts for hours and some fades in minutes.

- Using a concealed brush, apply concealed all over your lid, from lash line to brow. If your lids are extra oily apply a mortifying product first, then put your concealer on top. Finish it of with a dusting powder.

- Since its summer time use neutral tones when it comes to eyeshadows. Stay away from creamy formulas.

- As for liners, liquid liner stays longer.

- Also you can take a cake liner and mix it with an eyeliner-sealing product. After applying the liner, just put some of the sealer on your liner brush, then re trace the line, which you have made earlier.

- Since its your wedding day, and in case tears of joy flow use waterproof mascara to be on the safe side.

Bachelorette Party Invitations - Etiquette

When should the invitations go out?

The bachelorette party invitations should go out at least one to two months prior to the party. The rule of thumb is that if you are going out of town for the party, give the girls at least 2 months to prepare for the trip, especially if they have a significant other or kids. I have heard and have received bachelorette party invitations sometimes 3 months in advance, especially if it is in Vegas since the rooms sell out so fast.

If the party is in town, give the girls at least one month in advance to be told about the party. Girls may have children or big children (husbands/boyfriends) to make arrangements with to save the date.

Paying?

Get the money up-front! Just because you are planning the party does not mean you have to pay for the bachelorette party, even the bachelorette party invitations, by yourself! Copy this page and show other girls who think that they don't need to chip in that THEY DO! You are doing your part in planning the party and each girl should chip in some money. It would be great to add up the possible expenses, including everyone paying for the bachelorette (who should not pay for anything). Give each girl the amount you need and state that they need to pay in advance or when they show up! There are so many occasions when girls may say "well I don't have the money", "I will pay you later", "I forgot my wallet but I promise to send it to you". Most likely you will not get money from them and so it is important so you can have a good time that you don't have to think about the money so get it up front!

How to Make a Boutonniere for a Wedding

A boutonniere-- a flower or floral decoration worn by men—can add an elegant touch to any formal coat or jacket. Use the flower of your choice to complete this easy project, and look even more stunning to the ladies.

Step1

Choose a flower for your boutonniere. Whether you are making one or several, make sure that your florist will have your choice available on the desired date.

Step2

Choose a small to midsize flower for a boutonniere. Roses and carnations are flowers that are commonly used.

Step3

Inquire as to whether the florist can dye the flower to match a prom dress or wedding colors. This inquiry needs to be made days in advance.

Step4

Use greenery and baby's breath along with the flower. These items can be obtained from your florist or craft store.

Step5

Use an artificial flower for your boutonniere if fresh flowers are not available or for last-minute needs. Artificial flowers can also be kept as keepsakes without the need for special preservation methods.

Step6

Use scissors to cut the stem of the flower to a length of approximately 3 inches. If you cut off any leaves, save them to use as greenery. If you are using an artificial flower, cut the stem with wire cutters.

Step7

Create a "bed" for the flower with a small amount of baby's breath and greenery. The bed should not extend much beyond the top of the flower and should be visible from the sides. Place the baby's breath between the greenery and the flower.

Step8

Wrap all stems together completely with green floral tape.

Step9

Alternatively, leave the stem of the flower unwrapped. Affix the greenery and baby's breath with a small amount of florist wire. Keep the floral wire as close as possible to the point where the flower joins the stem. Add just enough floral tape to cover the wire and trim any loose stems from the baby's breath or greenery.

Step10

Tie a bow at the bottom of the boutonniere. Use 1/4-inch silk or satin ribbon in a color that coordinates with a prom dress or wedding colors. This ribbon can also be used to camouflage floral wire.

Step11

Keep the fresh flower boutonniere moist and cool until it is ready to be used.

Well, Cinderella's wedding is probably not something that most modern day princesses can afford. If you want to cut a little bit of cost on your wedding, you might need to know how to save on church decorations.

Step One

Be basic. Even though our society says more is more, sometimes less is really more. Spend your budget and your time concentrating on the alter. That is where most of the eyes will be the whole time anyway. Besides lots of decorations will just detract from you anyway! It's your day, be the center of attention.

Beg, borrow and steal. Well, maybe not steal, but borrowing is a good idea. Not only can you borrow some of the decorations from your friends and family, you might want to ask your church. Step Three

Be flexible. Be open to what you want as decorations. If you can only have navy blue candles with gold holders, chances are you will pay more for them. If you aren't as picky, you can save a bit of money.

Watch for low prices. Use the Internet and local discount stores to search for the lowest prices on some of the items you want. Just shopping around will save you money.

Step Five

Be creative. Take some time to make your wedding different than anyone else's. Maybe just have some candles as the decorations. In the candlelight, the rest of the decorations couldn't really be seen anyway. Why would you waste money on them?

Step Six

Get crafty. Or better yet, get someone else to be crafty. Sometimes the best looking decorations are homemade. Make use of that craft lover you know and see what they can whip up.

If you take your pictures in front of the altar, you can really concentrate your decorations in one place. It'll save time and money.
Buy what you need on the off-season. Wedding season tends to be in June and July. If you know you are going to be getting married in a year, start shopping now. You can have more time to look things over and make sure you getting the lowest price.
Keep a broad theme in mind. Even though you want all the decorations to be cohesive, be open-minded when it comes to what goes in that theme.
Don't buy anything in the wedding aisle. Prices are jacked-up for wedding decorations, look in other places in the store and you could save some green.

What is it?

A rehearsal dinner is typically an informal meal after a wedding rehearsal, which takes place the night before the actual wedding. It's a chance for the wedding party to get to know each other better, and most importantly, it's a chance for the bride and groom to thank all the people who have helped them out with the wedding planning.

Do I have to have one?

You don't have to have one, but there are very few reasons not to. You're going to need to eat on that night anyway, why not eat with your loved ones?

Who pays?

Traditionally the groom's parents pay but nowadays you'll often see couples include the cost in their overall wedding planning budget. Another scenario is for both parents to host it together.

Who plans it?

It is traditionally the realm of the groom's mother. Check in with your mother-in-law and see if she is willing and able to do so. If she wants to, it's a good idea to let her – it gives her a role in the wedding and even if the rehearsal dinner is completely different from your taste, guests will presume that you didn't plan it.

What happens at a rehearsal dinner?

Along with eating, of course, the bride and groom offer up thanks and toast their families and the wedding party. There are often many other informal toasts. Sometimes this toasting becomes a roasting of the bride and groom – but it's all in good fun. You may also plan ice-breaking games or other activities including poker, pool, darts, a short funny home-movie, or backyard games. If you're not having a bridesmaid's luncheon, this is also an appropriate time to give bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts.

How do I invite my guests?

Typically, printed invitations are sent a few days after you send the wedding invitation. These don't need to be elegant and expensive – the easiest thing to do is to get the templates to print on your home computer.

Do I have to invite out-of-town guests?

Once upon a time, a rehearsal dinner was only for the wedding party and the immediate family of the bride and groom. Now, wedding magazines will tell you that you have to invite all of the out-of-town guests. Here's my opinion: it is a nice gesture, so that you don't leave them at loose ends in a strange town the night before the wedding. However, if you don't invite them, you can include a list of restaurants or things to do in the area on your wedding website. Also, you can hold the rehearsal dinner on the early side, and then include a note in your invitations saying "If you're in town the night before the wedding, we'd love to see you! We'll be at the East Side Pub after 9 pm – please join us if you can make it." A nice touch is to get the bar to provide pub snacks and appetizers to your guests, which will still be less expensive than providing them dinner.

What if I can't afford a rehearsal dinner?

First, reexamine your expectations – it doesn't have to be some grand formal thing at a restaurant or catering hall. Some of the best rehearsal dinners I've seen are relaxed backyard barbecues which allow people to really get to know each other. Set up a volleyball net or get a game of touch football going. The colors of Christmas are red and green. These being fairly bright colors, you would want something more subtle, like white or silver, to be the theme of your Christmas wedding. ... many young adults today... waited to marry until they felt the time was right. Others are also holding off while maintaining a single-but-together status that can last years. That may be one reason the age at first marriage has been climbing steadily for all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. The median age is now the oldest since the U.S. Census started keeping track in the 1890s: almost 26 for women and almost 28 for men.

And as young people wait longer to marry, there is growing debate over whether waiting is a good idea, and if so, how long is best. Those who advocate marriage in the early to mid-20s say that's the age when the pool of possible mates is larger, it's when couples can "grow up" together and it's prime for childbearing. But others favor the late 20s or early 30s, saying maturity makes for happier unions and greater economic security — both of which make divorce less likely.

As a result, researchers, sociologists and family experts are taking a closer look at the attitudes behind the trend to see if there really is an optimum age to marry that maximizes the benefits of matrimony and minimizes possible problems.

"It's better not to get married as a teenager," says sociologist Andrew Cherlin of Johns Hopkins University. "Beyond that, I don't think there's an ideal age."

But people do have opinions about it, and those beliefs are clearly changing. In a 1946 Gallup Poll, most found the ideal age to be 25 for men and 21 for women. Sixty years later, in a Gallup telephone poll of about 500 adults, the ideal age had increased to 25 for women and 27 for men.

where do i begin to thank you two?!

I always love doing weddings for my friends, always dreamed that i can plan a perfect wedding for myself. but the time really came, i was panicing. there are a million things i want, & i was being very indecisive. we didnt have a budget set up, or anything booked. i was stressed w/work, family & the wedding at the same time. As time passing by, i felt helpless & desprate.

that's when i met twoteacups. the gospel to my prayer.

Lucia is very patient, very understanding, & best of all very attentive to details. from the moment we met til the day before the wedding, she made me feel at ease knowing she's always there for me. always there to send me weekly or even daily to do list, always there to listen to my questions & request, always there to comfort. knowing someone is devoted as much as you do for your own wedding was great feeling.

later on i met Christina, who has the most amazing,upbeat personality that she'd go extra miles to make sure i was truely having the best time of my life.

because of them, i was worry free on my wedding day. & because of them, the wedding was amazing, more than i ever expected.... a lot of guests told me it was the best wedding they had ever been to. I agree. therefore, my hubby & i are enterally grateful that we had chose twoteacups.

how to decorate for a fall wedding

Autumn is a beautiful time to have a wedding. To amplify the season, incorporate the season into your wedding decorations and your guests will be talking about your special day for years to come.

1. For the ceremony, decorate aisles with autumn colored leaves. Most arts and craft stores sell a variety of cloth and polyurethane leaves. They can easily be attached to a chair or a pew with double-sided tape. You can use fresh leaves, as well, though they dry out and become fragile quickly. Instead of decorating with flowers, use fall plants like wheat, Indian corn, grapevine and ferns. Have the ceremony in a location surrounded by fall foliage, whether at a church or lodge.

2. Use fall flowers in bouquets. Mums, heather and goldenrod can be used or interchanged with autumn-colored flowers like dahlias. Roses can be found in many shades of red, orange, yellow and even brown. Confetti roses are very common in fall wedding bouquets.

3. Use pumpkins for place cards. Choose mini pumpkins with their stems still attached. Use a sharp knife to make a semi-deep cut into the stem. Insert a place card and secure with a drop of glue. Gourds and squash can be used instead or with the pumpkins.

4. For the ceremony, continue decorating with leaves, Indian corn, grapevine, mums, and other fall plants. Place large pumpkins, gourds, squash and apples around the room and on serving tables. Also use Granny Smith apples and chestnuts.

5. Place a simple votive candle and some (non-flammable) leaves on each table as centerpieces. Your florist may be able to supply you with a candle holder in which you can display leaves and a candle.

6. Give your guests a fall treat as a favor. Packets of cider and tea can be purchased in bulk and wrapped up with a cinnamon stick. Individually package some homemade pumpkin or apple cinnamon mini-muffins in a plastic bag and tie them with a fall-colored ribbon.

It is customary to have at least one bridal shower but many times a bride may have multiple bridal showers hosted by different friends. Furthermore, some couples today have co-ed showers, including the groom and his friends.

Shower Gifts are customary to bring although traditionally they are not as large of a gift as the Wedding Gift. The shower gift is usually something practical and small, such as some of the more small items off of the wedding directory.

If you are planning the bridal shower it is important to work with the bride in who she wants to attend. If there are multiple showers, many times different people that are going to the wedding attend the different showers with some overlap. It is customary for the guests of any of the showers to be attending the wedding unless they are co-workers. As for the rest of the planning, it is sometimes nice to get a general idea of what the bride would like, although it is nice to plan many surprises (i.e., themes, games, etc) in which the bride has no idea.

Location: There are many great places to have a bridal shower. Traditionally, the shower was held in a home of the Maid of Honor, although now they are held in places such as restaurants, bars, hotels, halls, and country clubs. Regardless on where you have it, make sure it is convenient for most the guests.
Time: Bridal Showers usually take place a few weeks prior to the wedding. It is important to check out availability with the Bride, Groom and their families. In addition, it is important to take season and hour of day into consideration (i.e, Is it during the rainy or windy season which would make you have an indoor party).
Themes: Although traditionally there were no themes of Bridal Showers, recent times have shown different. Themes have become more popular with some ideas including:

Lingerie Shower: Have the girls come over in P.J.'s or their nightime clothes and decorate the party as a "sleepover" Have the gifts of the bride consist of "bed and bath", lingerie, bikinis or anything sexy that her and the groom will enjoy!
Recipe Shower: Have all the guests do a pot luck, serving their greatest meal while also bringing the recipes. Guests can either give kitchen items as gifts or serve the food in the bride and grooms gift (i.e., pot/pan, bowls, cups, utensils). This is a great way to feed the party as well as give reasonable gifts for the bride and groom.
Multi-Cultural Shower: Have all the guests bring their favorite cultural dish "in" the bride and groom's bridal shower gift. Whether it is egg rolls and suschi on japanese plates (gift) or pasta fresh from a pasta maker (gift) it is a great way to give the bride and groom unique gifts. Decorate the party with decorations from different cultures.

One of the grandest part of any wedding ceremony is when the bridal party makes its entrance. The air is full of anticipation, and the groom anxiously awaits his first glimpse of his bride in her wedding dress. But do you know what order your bridal party should walk in? And who escorts the mother of the bride?

Different types of wedding processionals

The order of wedding processionals follows a general pattern, but varies according to religious traditions.

For example, here is a Catholic wedding processional:

The priest, groom, and best man enter through a side door and wait at the altar.
The groomsmen and bridesmaids walk down in pairs, starting with the two who will stand farthest from the bride and groom, and ending with the best man and maid of honor.
The ring bearer and/or flower girl
The bride and her father, or other close family member.
The bride walks on the left side. If the bride's escort is her father, he leads her to the front of the aisle, then takes his seat next to the bride's mother.

However, for a Jewish wedding processional, the order goes something like this:

The Rabbi and/or cantor
Grandparents of the bride, who are then seated in the first row

Have a designated person to be the personal attendant of the day. This friend - usually not part of the wedding party - will be responsible for assisting the bride in matters such as making sure the vendors are doing what they are paid to do, the right photo is (photos are) taken, the bridal party is announced, wedding participants are in place ready to go, etc. It may even be helpful to have a separate bride’s attendant and groom’s attendant.
Be extremely specific about when each person involved in the wedding should arrive. Don’t automatically assume that everyone will know when to show up…you might be surprised as to how many people think they are exceptions! Be clear on when musicians vs. vendors vs. the bridal party vs. family members and other helpers such as ushers and greeters should arrive.

Have 2-3 greeters and a separate gift table attendant, and be clear on who is transporting what to and from the ceremony. The 2-3 greeters can focus on making sure people know where to go and ensuring guests sign the guestbook properly, while the gift table attendant should focus on receiving and tracking the gifts.
Regarding the gift table, a great way to track gifts is to have a gift log with some stickers that you can write numbers on. When each guest drops off a guest, stick a number on the gift and note it in the gift log (i.e. sticker #1 refers to Mr. and Mrs. Smith). This will go a long way in making the thank-you-care-writing process much easier! Another reason it is important to have a person focused specifically on the gifts is for their watchful eye, as there have been occasions when gifts have disappeared. Weddings are prime targets for theft, as passersby know that guests are bringing lots of bright and shiny things for the newlywed couple!

'must know' about outdoor weddings

If you decided to have an outdoor wedding, first of all, congratulations! You've probably been envisioning of your outdoor wedding since your brain acquired the word 'wedding.' As beautiful an outdoor wedding can be, there can be small flaws that can prevent the 120% perfect wedding...
Therefore, I've summarized some of the 'must-know' for your outdooor wedding.

1. Lighting. If it's possible, visit the location in the same month and around same time of your wedding (for example, the previous year) to know how, when, and what is the best spot for your wedding. Some of the questions you might want to consider are:

What time is sunset? Will the guests need extra lighting after sunset? Will the photographer need additional lighting after sunset?
Will the sun shine directly to the bridal party and guests? Will the photographer be uncomfortable in taking pictures because of the strong sunshine?
Are all the pathways for the guests bright enough, such as path to the parking lot, from and to tables?
Things that help: ushers serving cold beverages, fans (either personal or huge electric ones) and tent to shade the sunshine.

2. Bad Weather. Always have a back up plan. The most imporant thing you must remember is that you should always stress-free. Do not panic. Just have all the back up plans ready. Another tip is let your guests know that the wedding is outdoor so that they can dress appropriately.

What if it rains? Find out if there is an option of an indoor hall. This would be the best 'plan B.' If else, renting a tent would be a second choice. However, make sure that this second plan will only work for showers or light rain. A third option, you may change location. You can find out a different location nearby the original location where it is indoor. But make sure you let your guests know of this by posting a visible sign at the entrance and/or calling guests and have the guest inform other guests.
What if it gets too chilly? Again, make sure you let your guest know that it is an outdoor wedding so that they can dress warm. You may want to add a note onto your invitation. Things that might help: personal blankets and portable heaters.
What if it gets too windy? Make sure you pin all the table clothes, either with large vases or pins. Also, weddings are full of candles. Be aware that the wind can blow out the candles. Alternatives can be if you use large candle holders, fishbowls or decorative hurricane lamps.

Most importantly, the bride, you should look pretty at all times. Make sure you tell your hair stylist and make-up artist about the outdoor wedding. Also, you might want to choose appropriate dresses for yourself and the bridesmaids. Choose dresses that are not too puffy but yet not of a too-light fabric material as it can easily be blown out by the wind. The length of the dress is very important as well...

3. Bugs. These can be very dangerous. They can make your guests, bridal party and family uncomfortable. Make sure you know what can prevent the bugs from invading your wedding: ask the manager and/or specialist. If the location is known for too many bugs, have citronella candles or bug zappers to keep these uninvited bugs away.

4. Noise. If your wedding is at a beach or at a noisy park, make sure you prepare appropriate sound system. Ask your DJ to accomodate this. You do not want your guests to leave your wedding feeling that they have not heard one word from the ceremony. On the other hand, some places may have noise restrictions on how loud you can be (for example, parks or other public places). Make sure you read your contract to find out rules and details on this. Some places you may even need permit to have the wedding itself.

5. Decorations. The best part. You may be able to save money on decorations as the outdoor environment is itself a beautiful decoration. However, you may need to worry about different issues: make sure that the grass is nicely mowned, ground raked, trees are not interfering with the ceremony location, and supplement with chair decorations, topiaries, columns, aisle bows and runners, and ceremony arch to jist up the outdoor setting.

My Experience with the Marriage License

So....my hubby and I totally forgot about getting the marriage license, with running around getting all the final details checked, the license did not even cross our minds! lets just say Thank God that I remembered it two days before the wedding! If not, because of the 24 hours waiting period (meaning, that you must not get married within 24 hours) who knows what would have happened.

I had a intensive checklist, but how did I forget the most important item? Brides and Grooms, this should be on your top TOP to do list.

Some tips that might help out....

1) Go early! depending on the season your wedding is in....the wait is going to be long. I got married in June, so that was a busy season. We had to wait outside of the court (not even inside!) for almost 45 mins. I suggest to go maybe 15 mins before the court opens and just wait there, grab some coffee and breakfast, this can reduce the wait time.

2) $40 Fee ONLY in money order. The court does not accept anything else. Luckily there are plenty of stores around that has money order services.

3) DO NOT FORGET GOVERNMENT ID!!!! My hubby and I were good to go on this, but I saw lots of couples inside where one forgot to bring, sucks to come back!

4) There is a municipal parking lot right next to it. It's not really out in the open, so my hubby and I had to drive, and drive to find parking =( On the main road, there are only one hour meter parking....there is no parking around the residential areas....municipal parking lot is the way to go! You park and pay for whatever time you think you need.

5) Lastly, Don't forget to mail in the license after your wedding. Once again, my hubby and I forgot. It says on the license that it must be mailed in within 7 days of the wedding, we mailed it in 2 weeks after. But all was good, and we were issued the marriage certificate. phew~

I went to the court in Queens, NY...which is on Queens Blvd.

What is the difference between wedding license and wedding certificate?

Marriage license is what the marrying couple gets to give to the officiant (priest, preacher, judge, etc.). This license states that the officiant can legally marry the couple together. Then, the designated witnesses sign the license testifying that the officiant has married the couple. And lastly, this signed document goes through the court system which will be returned as a wedding certificate.

So in other terms, a marriage license is what the couple gets before marriage; and the marriage certificate is the document obtained after the marriage. In order to receive the certificate, it is necessary to have the marriage license and some kind of wedding ceremony first. Whether it's just at city hall or in a church, a marriage has to take place to be legally married and receive a marriage certificate.

I decided to go backwards with the postings of my wedding experiences. Today I will share with photos of how my wedding was set up, then I will post my DIY projects, vendor experiences, and so on....

This is how our tables were set up. The table numbers were DIYs, I made them from one of our casual picture session.

This is my Bouquet. I ABSOLUTELY loved my bouquet. I gave some inspiration pictures to my florists, and BAM came this beauty!
